How to care for your Strobilanthes Persian Shield
Use these instructions to care for a Strobilanthes Persian Shield. This guide will tell you how to water a Strobilanthes Persian Shield; its light, temperature, humidity preferences and any additional care it might need to help it grow.
Strobilanthes Persian Shield
Strobilanthes Persian Shield will thrive in sun or shade when grown outdoors. However, if you’re growing your plant indoors, then it needs some direct sun for part of the day to keep the leaves from fading.
Provide your Persian Shield plants with plenty of water as they do not like to dry out completely; water just before the soil is dry. During hot and dry times, more watering may be required, and during rainy times, less watering may be needed if your plants are located outdoors. Otherwise, you would water your plant when the top inch of soil is dry.
You can fertilize your Strobilanthes once at the beginning of its growing season with a balanced fertilizer that’s diluted at half strength. From there, you can feed your plant once every two to four weeks.
To encourage bushier, thicker Persian Shield plants, feel free to pinch back growth every so often. Colors become more vibrant and pronounced when placed in partial shade. If you find the colors of your Persian Shield becoming somewhat faded, you may want to move it to a more shaded area of your porch or balcony.
