Over or underwatering
One reason that your goldfish plant could be losing leaves is an issue with the watering frequency. Both over and underwatering can cause the plant to drop leaves. Be sure to water when the soil volume is 50% dry. Always test the soil with your finger or a wooden chopstick first, then be sure to evenly water it until water begins to drain from the drainage hole. Discard any excess water.
Low lighting
Is your plant getting enough light? Your goldfish plant will do best in a bright indirect light location. In lower light, it can lose leaves and blooms and could also become leggy, meaning there is lots of space between leaves on the stem. Try giving it more light if it’s losing leaves.
Normal leaf drop
If your plant is putting out active new growth, some leaf drop is normal! If your plant is dropping the oldest leaves only, this is an indication the plant is healthy and growing. Dropping old leaves in favor of new growth is completely normal for a healthy plant.
