use these instructions to care for a dwarf banana tree. this guide will tell you how to water your dwarf banana tree, its light, temperature, and humidity preferences; and any additional care your plant might need to help it grow.
Your Dwarf Banana Plant prefers full sun 4-6 hours per day, if possible. Place it in a south-facing window where it will get the most light.
Allow the plant to dry out a bit between waterings. Water thoroughly, allowing the water to flow from the drainage hole in the bottom of the pot and into the saucer. Be sure to empty the saucer of all water—never let the plant/roots sit in water it will lead to root rot.
This plant enjoys extra humidity, so feel free to mist daily. Another option is to place the container on a pebble tray. Place pebbles an inch or so deep in a plate or tray filled with water. The pebbles keep the plant up out of the water and as the water evaporates, it creates humidity for the plant!
Conditions ranging from 67-80 degrees are fine for your Banana Plant.
Feed your Banana Plant once a month with a diluted liquid fertilizer. They are known to grow fairly quickly, so this monthly food with help sustain their growth.
Wipe the large leaves down occasionally with a damp cloth as they tend to collect dust. Never use household cleaners it will clog the pores and burn leaves. Use plain water mixed with a bit of diluted dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle. Always remove the dead foliage from the plant and soil—this can provide a breeding ground for pests and disease.
Do not expect to actually harvest fruit from your Banana plant. Your plant will not be in the right conditions to flower and grow fruit. Just admire the beautiful and distinct foliage.
The Dwarf Banana plant is non-toxic to humans and pets.
