How to care for your Fatsia

When grown outdoors, your Paper Plant will flourish in full to partial shade. Indoors growing, however, requires bright, indirect sunlight or a grow light as long as it doesn’t shine directly on the leaves which would cause them to fade.
Every two weeks, you’ll need to water your Paper Plant thoroughly until the water runs out of the drainage holes. Do not pour excess water back into the plant since the roots are susceptible to rotting. You’ll know when your Paper Plant is thirsty when the top half of the soil has completely dried out. During the winter months, you’ll curb back the watering to every two weeks.
Proper Paper Plant care doesn’t call for high humidity levels, but if you find that the air gets too dry, you might lightly mist your leaves or place a damp pebble tray close by.
Your Paper Plant would also grow well in average indoor temperatures. As long as your plant is not sitting near drafts or heating vents, it should thrive.
Your Paper Plant would appreciate a feeding every two weeks during its spring and summer growing season. The ideal solution is a balanced, liquid fertilizer that’s diluted in water at half strength.
According to the ASPCA, your Paper Plant is non-toxic to humans and pets. However, contact with the plant’s sap can irritate your skin.
Fatsia can be very quick growing during spring and summer. You can choose to prune it to keep it to a certain size. If you do not do this, you may find that it can outgrow its pot within 6 months to a year. Keep an eye on it and repot it when the time comes to keep your plant healthy.
